HackCam 2.1

HackCam offers a practical solution for transforming your smartphone into a visualizer system. It enables users to utilize an iPhone as a live video camera and display the real-time feed onto a larger screen. The setup requires a Mac computer, an iPhone, a compatible cable, and the HackCam application.

The application is well-suited for recording and mirroring video captured by the iPhone camera. Additionally, it allows users to overlay their own logo in the bottom right corner of the video feed. Tapping on the logo temporarily blurs the entire camera view, effectively muting the display if needed. The logo then reappears centrally on the screen, serving as a useful feature for conference settings and presentations.

Developed with inspiration from members of KCL Tech Society at King's College London, HackCam was created during the preparation for HackLondon, a prominent student hackathon in the UK and EU. The app was adopted by HackLondon as a facilitator for connecting presenters’ devices to projectors, eliminating the need for constant physical connection and disconnection of cables, thereby streamlining presentation workflows.
